Growth and nutrition of Passiflora edulis submitted to saline stress after silicon application

Abstract We carried out greenhouse experiment to evaluate the effect of silicon (Si) on growth and mineral nutrition yellow passion fruit (Passiflora edulis) submitted saline stress in a nutritive solution. The comprised completely randomized design 5x4 factorial scheme: five NaCl concentrations (0; 7.5; 15; 30 60 mmol L-1) four SiO2 0.5; 1.0 1.5 with replicates. At end 35 days, we measured stem diameter, leaves, stem, roots dry matter, as well macronutrient, Na, Cl, Si leaf accumulation plants. In most cases, increase supply solution reduced matter roots, leaves. attenuated higher tested (30 L-1 NaCl) matter. application 0.5 deleterious salinity all macronutrients absorption cultivated

Ethanol extract of Passiflora edulis Sims was analyzed for its antioxidant (1,1-diphenyl-2-picryl hydrazyl radical reducing power methods) and phytochemical analysis.
